Boxing clever in aid of Cancer Research

Petite Yollanda Musa, from Hemel Hempstead, is learning to box from scratch in eight weeks with Ultra White Collar Boxing.

And on Sunday December 11, she will be taking part in a public boxing match at Sportspace, Berkhamsted.

Earlier this year, Yollanda, who works as a marketing officer for Herts County Council, was a finalist in the Top Model UK 2016 competition.

Now the 5ft 2in 25-year-old is keen to take on a new challenge.

Yollanda said: “This is a once in a lifetime challenge which I am very excited about as I’ve always wanted to learn how to box and it’s for a very good cause. Please support me on my journey by donating to the charity I am representing Cancer Research UK. ”

White collar boxing originated in New York in 1988, and has since become the fastest growing corporate contact sport in the world.

Ultra White Collar Boxing has run hundreds of its charity boxing events since 2009, and is Cancer Research UK’s biggest UK fundraiser, raising over £2 million in 2015.

Novice boxers receive eight weeks of free training at a local boxing gym with professional boxing coaches. They are then fairly matched with an opponent, based on weight, fitness, ability and age, for their public bout.

All boxers must raise a minimum of £50 for Cancer Research UK, and must also sell tickets to the event.
