Bike thefts are‘not crime spree’

Police have reassured bike owners that a small number of vehicle thefts in the Dacorum area is not being considered a crime series.

A distinctive quad bike was stolen from a driveway in Kings Langley overnight on Friday, November 7.

The red gadget, of a value unknown, has ‘Taylors Tools’ stickers on the side and was stolen from outside a home in The Grove, off Langley Road, between 6pm that evening and 9.30am the following morning.

The incident follows the theft of two motorbikes from the underground car park of Ovaltine Court inKings Langley, overnight between Thursday, September 11, and the next day.

The offenders were using a white Ford Transit van which had no number plates on at the back to steal the white Suzuki GSX and a grey Yamaha YZF R6.

On October 23, a black and silver 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 was taken from a driveway in Hemel Hempstead’s Barnacres Road between 12.30am and 1.30am.

In this instance, a chain lock was also removed to snatch the vehicle.

A police spokesman said house to house enquiries and CCTV have been consulted, but explained that the incidents are not being treated as part of a crime series at this stage, and are being investigated as isolated incidents.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any of these vehicles, knows of their whereabouts or has been offered them for sale.
