PCSOs and staff at the Natwest branch in the town centre’s Bank Court have been speaking to people about how they can prevent themselves from becoming victims of cruel cash cons.

They were also given copies of the Metropolitan Police’s ‘Little Book of Big Scams’ in a specially-dedicated event held today.

The idea coincides with Natwest’s National Customer Service Week, running until Friday.

Branch manager Darren Guy said: “At NatWest, we’re committed to helping our customers protect themselves from fraud and we think prevention through education is key.

“We’re delighted to join forces with the police to promote the ‘Little Book of Big Scams’, to show our customers that we’re both here to help our customers not only if they fall victim, but to prevent it from happening.

“It’s impossible to prevent every type of fraud occurring, but we’re working closer with the police than ever before to raise awareness among our customers to help them identify the warning signs.”
