Bank Court’s disabled parking will relocate in new regeneration phase

Formal agreement was given by Dacorum Borough Council’s Cabinet last night to move the 12 blue badge in the banking district of the town to Waterhouse Street.

The approval was made following a Traffic Regulation Order consultation in October and follow proposals to regenerate Bank Court approved last December.

The plans to create a piazza-style, flexible focal area with opportunities for pavement cafes, market stalls and special eventsis part of the authority’s wider £30million Hemel Evolution regeneration scheme.

Other traffic regulation changes on the way support plans for a new bus interchange at Marlowes and Bridge Street and a new pedestrian zone in the Marlowes shopping area that extends to parts of Moor End Road to accommodate formal blue badge holder parking, short stay spaces and spaces for a relocated taxi rank.

The Council gathered feedback from the public about the changes through an initial informal consultation during the summer and a fformal consultation on seven separate Traffic Regulation Orders which together proposed the changes, also including creating one-way traffic only for permit holders along the Marlowes pedestrianised area through to Moor End Road at the junction with Primark.
