Bailed again: the one man police arrested in connection with the hit-and-run collision that killed 16-year-old Fazan

A man arrested by police in connection with the hit-and-run that killed 16-year-old Fazan Ahmed earlier this year has been bailed for a second time.

The 20-year-old from Berkhamsted was arrested just under a week after the former student of Hemel Hempstead’s Adeyfield School was hit.

Fazan died from his injuries in St Mary’s Hospital, London, on Sunday, August 24, two days after the 8.25pm collision in Jupiter Drive, Highfield.

The 20-year-old man was arrested at 6.30pm on Thursday, August 28, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was bailed without charge and told to return to police on Sunday, October 26.

But yesterday, officers bailed him for a second time and he will now have to answer to them again on Monday, January 12.

Spokesman Natalie Dearman said: “He has been bailed pending further enquiries. As the investigation is still ongoing, we cannot say much more at this stage.”

Fazan was hit just one day after collecting his GCSE results on the Friday before August Bank Holiday Monday.

He had been hoping to study subjects including business and economics for his A-levels at Longdean School in the Bennetts End ward of Hemel Hempstead before going to university.
