Aviva Women’s Tour: Road closures

A spokesman from Herts County Council said the authority has been working closely with Dacorum Borough Council, event organiser Sweetspot and Herts Police to ensure all traffic management is safely in place on the Sunday.

They said: “There will be fixed closures in place to facilitate both the start and finish areas of the race while the race route itself will work on a rolling closure basis.

“This will be managed by the Central Escort Group on the day of the race along with Sweetspots control team.

“HCC have co-ordinated and agreed all traffic management requirements for the event.

“We have liaised with all local authorities involved in the race, along with the emergency services to discuss and agree what will be needed to ensure the success of the event on the day itself.

“HCC have written the formal temporary traffic regulation orders for all road closures, signed off the traffic management plans, provided publicity to local residents regarding the event/parking as well as making sure the route is safe for the elite cyclists.”

The Route

The closures will be implemented from around 11am on Sunday, June 21 starting in Tring and proceeding as follows:

>Akeman Street, Tring

>B4635, Tring

>Station Road, Tring

>Toms Hill Road, Aldbury,

>B4506, Aldbury

>Nettleden Road, Little Gaddesden

>Vicarage Road, Potten End

>The Green, Potten End

>Hempstead Lane, Potten End

>Berkhamsted Road, Potten End

>Boxted Road, Hemel Hempstead

>Northridge Way, Hemel Hempstead

>St Johns Road, Hemel Hempstead

>A414 Plough Roundabout, Hemel Hempstead

>A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead

As the route progresses, the closures will be lifted.

The Finish Line

>The A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road will host the finish of Stage 5.

>Due to the amount of spectators, tour vehicles and staging which will be required this road will be closed from 8pm on Saturday, June 20 until 8pm on Sunday, June 21.

>This will allow enough time to prepare the finishing straight and then remove the obstructions the evening after the race.

>The section of Leighton Buzzard Road which will be closed for this time is from its junction with the B487 Queensway to its junction with the A4147 Link Road.
