Staff and residents at a care home in Hemel Hempstead have thanked families, friends, local businesses and members of the local community for all their support during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mountbatten Lodge care home received sweet treats, pampering goodies, home-made cakes, drinks, letters and beautiful drawings amongst many other items, and they want to take the opportunity to let everybody know how much these items have meant to them.

They have given special mentions go to Tudor School, Liberty Tea Rooms and Community Hub, Euro Car Parts and local residents Haylea, Bradley, Sue Newton, Robert Courtney, Richard Swaby, Emma and Terry, all of whom have been incredibly generous.

Home Manager Priscilia Okwuka said “We have been completely overwhelmed by the kindness shown to us during what has been a challenging time for everybody.

“Despite having to close our home to non-essential visitors, we have never felt alone.

"It has been wonderful to know that our local families, friends, community and businesses have been thinking of us and that they appreciate the amazing dedication and professionalism of

our staff team here at Mountbatten Lodge.

"The messages and gifts for the team and residents have been so gratefully received and we wanted to make sure that everybody knows just how thankful we are.

"We have made a special mention of some, but there are many others who deserve our thanks also.

“Being a central part of our local community has always been vital to us at Mountbatten Lodge and we are really pleased that we have now been able to welcome our families back to the home for socially-distanced garden visits.

"It has been an extremely emotional time for everybody to finally be able to see their loved ones in person, and it has given us an opportunity to thank our families for their wonderful support during this time.”
