Covid-19 latest: here's how many new cases were recorded in Dacorum in the last 24 hours

Dacorum recorded just five new positive Covid-19 cases today (May 5).

The total for the borough is 8,596, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 25.2 per 100,000 to 23.3 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending April 29).

On April 28, the incidence rate was 32.3 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending April 23).

There have been 25 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 76,995.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> April 28 - zero cases

> April 29 - eight cases

> April 30 - four cases

> May 1 - four cases

> May 2 - one case

> May 3 - four cases

> May 4 - five cases.

According to Public Health England there were 11 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, April 27, and one was on a mechanical ventilation bed.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 319, according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,144 to 4,425,940. The number of deaths has risen by 27 to 127,570.

As of May 4, in the UK, 34,795,074 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 15,887,493 had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Monday, May 3, and 5pm on Tuesday, May 4.
