Covid-19 latest: Dacorum records five new positive cases in the last 24 hours

Dacorum recorded five new positive Covid-19 cases today (May 21).

The total for the borough is now 8,632, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has increased from 9.7 per 100,000 to 10.3 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending May 16).

On May 14, the incidence rate was 20.7 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending May 9).

In Hertfordshire, 32 new cases were recorded today - the total is now 77,331.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> May 14 - five cases

> May 15 - two cases

> May 16 - zero cases

> May 17 - three cases

> May 18 - five cases

> May 19 - two cases

> May 20 - seven cases.

According to Public Health England there was one confirmed COVID-19 patient in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, May 18, and no patients were on a mechanical ventilation bed.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 321, according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

In the UK, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,829 to 4,457,923. The number of deaths has risen by nine to 127,710.

As of May 20, in the UK, 37,518,614 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 21,659,783 had received their second dose.

And in Dacorum, 85,993 people had received their first dose of the vaccination and 48,156 people had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Wednesday, May 18, and 5pm on Thursday, May 19.
