Covid-19 latest: Dacorum records five new positive cases in the last 24 hours

Dacorum recorded just fivenew positive Covid-19 cases today (May 4).

The total for the borough is 8,591, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 27.1 per 100,000 to 25.2 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending April 28).

On April 27, the incidence rate was 28.8 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending April 22).

There have been 29 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 76,970.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> April 27 - five cases

> April 28 - zero cases

> April 29 - eight cases

> April 30 - four cases

> May 1 - four cases

> May 2 - one case

> May 3 - four cases.

According to Public Health England there were 11 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, April 27, and one was on a mechanical ventilation bed.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 319, according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 1,946 to 4,423,796. The number of deaths has risen by four to 127,543.

As of May 3, in the UK, 34,667,904 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 15,630,007 had received their second dose.

Everyone aged 40 and over is now being invited to book a Covid-19 jab as the NHS vaccination programme goes from strength to strength.

Here's how many people had received both the first and second dose of the vaccine by April 25, in each area of Dacorum.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Sunday, May 2, and 5pm on Monday, May 3.
