Coronavirus latest: here's how many new cases were recorded in Dacorum in the last 24 hours

Dacorum has recorded just eight new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours of data released this afternoon (March 18).

The total for the borough is now 8,341, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 41.4 per 100,000 population to 38.1 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending March 13).

On March 11, the incidence rate was 60.1 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending March 6).

There have been 55 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 75,263.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> March 11 - 12 cases

> March 12 - six cases

> March 13 - six cases

> March 14 - five cases

> March 15 - six cases

> March 16 - 10 cases

> March 17 - 14 cases.

According to Public Health England there were 42 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, March 16, and 14 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 318, and no new deaths have been recorded in Hertfordshire, the total is 2,445 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 6,303 and now stands at 4,280,882. The number of deaths has risen by 95 to 125,926.

The estimated R number is 0.6 to 0.8 with a daily infection growth rate range of -7% to -4% as of March 12.

As of March 17, in the UK, 25,735,472 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 1,879,054 had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Tuesday, March 16, and 5pm on Wednesday, March 17.
