Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records over 70 new confirmed cases today

There have been 79 new positive Covid-19 tests in Dacorum over the last 24 hours.

The total for the borough is now 2,649, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has increased to 206.1 per 100,000 population as of December 12.

There have been 650 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 23,604.

From this Saturday, December 19, Dacorum will be designated in the tier 3 (Very High alert) category by central government. Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 35,383 and now stands at 1,948,660.​

The number of new UK cases reported today includes around 11,000 previously unreported cases for Wales as a result of system maintenance in the NHS Wales Laboratory Information Management System.

The number of deaths has risen by 532 to 66,052.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Tuesday, December 15, and 5pm on Wednesday, December 16.
