Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records nine new positive cases today

Dacorum has recorded nine new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours of data released this afternoon (March 29).

The total for the borough is now 8,429, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has increased from 34.9 per 100,000 population to 37.5 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending March 24).

On March 22, the incidence rate was 34.9 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending March 17).

There have been 50 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 75,912.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> March 22 - 13 cases

> March 23 - eight cases

> March 24 - seven cases

> March 25 - 13 cases

> March 26 - 10 cases

> March 27 - two cases

> March 28 - eight cases.

According to Public Health England there were 43 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, March 23, and 12 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 318, and one new death was recorded in Hertfordshire, the total is 2,454 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 4,654 and now stands at 4,337,696. The number of deaths has risen by 23 to 126,615.

The estimated R number is 0.7 to 0.9 with a daily infection growth rate range of -5% to -2% as of March 26.

As of March 28, in the UK, 30,444,829 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 3,674,266 had received their second dose.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Saturday, March 27, and 5pm on Sunday, March 28.
