Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 168 new cases today

Hertfordshire recorded 1,636 new cases

Dacorum has recorded 168 new positive Covid-19 cases today (January 5).

The total for the borough is now 5,028, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days is 669.4 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending January 1).

According to Public Health England there were 285 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust on Wednesday, December 30, and 18 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been three new deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 143, and there have been 27 new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 1,228 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 60,916 and now stands at 2,774,479.

The number of deaths has risen by 830 to 76,305.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Sunday, January 3, and 5pm on Monday, January 4.
