Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 143 new cases today

Dacorum has recorded 143 new positive Covid-19 cases today (January 6).

The total for the borough is now 5,171, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days is 699.1 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending January 2).

There have been 1,365 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 47,493.

According to Public Health England there were 285 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust on Wednesday, December 30, and 18 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been two new deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 145, and there have been 29 new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 1,257 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 62,322 and now stands at 2,836,801.

The number of deaths has risen by 1,041 to 77,346.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Monday, January 4, and 5pm on Tuesday, January 5. The figures come from the Government website which is available for the public to view here.With coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rising rapidly, the Government has announced a further period of national lockdown (Stay at Home), which came into force at midnight on Monday (4 January). The rules in England will be reviewed on 15 February.

Colleges, primary and secondary schools will remain open only for vulnerable children and the children of critical workers. All other children will learn remotely until February half term. Early Years settings remain open.
