Pupils at Boxmoor Primary School have been learning vital lifesaving skills thanks to free CPR training provided through the ‘Kiss of Life’ campaign run by Breakspear Park, Hemel Hempstead’s leading business campus.

The training was delivered by West Sussex-based charity Little Lifesavers, equipping the pupils with the ability and courage to respond in emergency situations and potentially save lives in the future.

The ‘Kiss of Life’ campaign, which took place in November and December last year, invited staff at Breakspear Park to nominate local primary schools to receive the free CPR training. Three schools – Gade Valley, Boxmoor and Bovingdon – were shortlisted, with the final decision made through a staff vote using an interactive festive installation in the central atrium of the business campus.

Commenting on being chosen as the winning school, Amie Churchman, Administrator at Boxmoor Primary School, said: “We were delighted to be voted as the winning recipient of CPR training for our pupils. Thanks to this opportunity they are learning skills that can truly save a life. CPR training is so important at any age and we’re incredibly grateful to Breakspear Park and Little Lifesavers for giving our school the knowledge, confidence and tools to make a real difference in an emergency.”

Little Lifesavers is a charity that teaches Basic Life Support skills and CPR to children aged from 9-13 within schools. Founded in 2016 by consultant anaesthetist Dr Barbara Stanley, to date the charity has provided free lifesaving training to over 24,200 children across the UK.

According to Dr Stanley: “It’s our hope that Little Lifesavers will become widely available across the UK and perhaps even in other countries, so that young people everywhere can have both the encouragement and the basic knowledge to step up and offer help to another who suddenly collapses or chokes.”

Dina Mistry, Marketing Manager at Breakspear Park, added: “The ‘Kiss of Life’ campaign was a wonderful initiative to run in the lead-up to Christmas and a meaningful way to give back to our local community. There’s no better gift than empowering young people with the skills that could one day help save a life.”
