Hemel Hempstead nursery launches application for 'much-needed' building

An award-winning nursery in Hemel Hempstead wants to expand by building a new modular classroom.

Kindred Hemel Hempstead Nursery and Pre-School in London Road have asked Dacorum Borough Council for planning permission to erect the new building, which would allow them to provide 15 “much-needed” extra spaces for babies and toddlers.

The new single-storey building would include a teaching area, a toddlers room with kitchenette, two toilets, and a cloakroom.

Application documents say it has been “sensitively designed with high quality materials that are reflective of the existing nursery and pre-school building”.

The site is within the Green Belt, and the land that could be used for the new modular building is currently grassland with “a small cluster of trees”. The applicant believes the land should be classed as Grey Belt following recent Government planning reforms.

Kindred Education run 58 nurseries in England, and has won awards including Education Investor Nursery Operator of the Year 2025 and Nursery World Working With Parents 2025.
