Bank visit aims to give Hemel pupils a head start on their financial future

Money was on the mind of pupils in Hemel when they visited a local bank aiming to raise financial awareness among young people.

Hemel Hempstead Metro Bank delivered its ‘Money Zone’ workshop to 11 children at Egerton Rothesay School.

Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers to children - either virtually or in store. It comprises of four sessions - budgeting, saving, banking, and the last session, which takes place in store, gave the pupils a behind the scenes look at the bank including a visit to the vault.

Customer Service Representatives (CSR) Vicky Brandon and Zane Kotwal delivered the sessions to the pupils.

Vicky said: “We are really pleased that we were able to deliver this Money Zone workshop as the students really enjoy it and their enthusiasm is infectious.

“The pupils were very excited about seeing the vault when they visited the bank, and that they got to meet and talk to our manager David Byrne.

“Learning how to manage your money, budget and save are fundamental life skills that everyone needs to learn. We are proud of our Money Zone programme and the difference it makes in giving these students a good grounding in their financial education.’’

Zane added: “The pupils were very engaged and enjoyed having us at the school.

They participated throughout the interaction and loved the Hemel Store visit!”
