Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 24 new cases in 24 hours

Dacorum has recorded 24 new positive Covid-19 cases today (February 8).

The total for the borough is now 7,778 according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 232.6 per 100,000 to 206.8 per 100,000 (the period represented is the 7 days ending February 3).

On February 1, the incidence rate was 280.4 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending January 27).

There have been 291 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 71,104.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> January 31 - 45 cases

> February 1 - 50 cases

> February 2 - 53 cases

> February 3 - 33 cases

> February 4 - 25 cases

> February 6 - 27 cases

> February 7 - 42 cases.

According to Public Health England there were 215 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, February 2, and 19 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been no new deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 286, and there have been two new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 2,199 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 14,104 and now stands at 3,959,784. The number of deaths has risen by 333 to 112,798.

As of February 7, in the UK, 12,294,006 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 512,581 had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Saturday, February 6, and 5pm on Sunday, February 7.
