Keech Hospice launches the Big Give where donations are doubled.

Keech Hospice, which provides free, specialist care and support for adults in Bedfordshire, and children in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes living with life-limiting conditions, is wrapping local families in care this Christmas by launching their ‘Big Give’ appeal.

Between 2 and 9 December 2025, every pound donated to Keech will be doubled, meaning supporters can have twice as much impact.

The Big Give is a philanthropic match-funding initiative run by James Reed, Chairman of REED, which helps UK charities raise money and helps the public make their donations count even more.

This year, Keech Hospice hopes to raise £42,000 from the Big Give.

Nikki Samsa, Associate Director – Supporter Engagement at Keech Hospice, says: “It costs £26,000 every single day for our hospice to be able to support local patients and families. Many people believe hospices are government funded, but actually, only around a third of our funds come through this route. The rest we have to raise ourselves, and we rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters to help. The Big Give is a powerful opportunity for us to boost our fundraising and for supporters to double their impact.”

How to get involved

If you would like to make a donation to Keech Hospice and see it doubled, please go to keech.org.uk from noon on 2 December to noon on 9 December.

Nikki adds: “Every donation truly matters and will make the difference. Just £28 can give a child with a life-limiting condition the chance to play in a safe, caring space, while £55 pays for an hour of specialist nursing care for someone in our in-patient unit. It all counts and we’re so very grateful for The Big Give and for everyone who takes part.”

Family case study: Stuart’s story

My mum Joyce had been a nurse and had spent her life helping others. Keech helped her live well, right to the end and when her final moments came, she died the way anyone would wish for – with dignity, surrounded by love.

Keech made the hardest days bearable and even after Mum died, they stayed with us, helping us through our grief with care and kindness.

If Mum were here, she’d say the care was second to none. And she’d be right. Keech really did wrap our whole family in care. And we’ll never forget that.
