A businesswoman from Tring has launched a new monthly subscription box targeted at discerning foodies.

Like many local businesses, Caroline Stranders found her food and drink sampling business (The Taste Tree) struggling when live events such as food festivals and other retail sampling opportunities were cancelled at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Caroline, who has 20 years' experience in the food and beverage industry, saw an opportunity that would allow her clients to continue getting their food products in front of the right audience, via a monthly subscription service delivering direct to consumers doorsteps.

The idea for Taste Treats was born.

She said: “When I found I couldn’t promote my clients’ products face-to-face anymore; it was a real blow.

"The way we discover new food and drinks has had to change, and I’m so proud to have come up with a way of meeting this challenge. Taste Treats ticks all the boxes.

"Our foodies receive a themed box every month filled to the brim with a surprise selection of exciting new food and drink samples carefully chosen from a variety of household name brands, artisan producers and independent creators.”

Taste Treats enjoyed a successful ‘soft launch’ before Christmas with nearly 300 boxes delivered to UK homes.

Each Taste Treat box promises its recipients will ‘discover deliciousness’. Featuring eight to ten brands with accompanying tasting notes, foodies can expect to find everything from sweet and savoury snacks, crackers, deli dips and nibbles through to wine, cocktails and more.

Subscribers will have access to recipes, tips, foodie news and special discounts. The boxes are £16.95 per box (incl. delivery), or £14.40 for subscribers.

February’s Taste Treats box is aptly themed ‘Love & Pancakes’, and will feature a range of sweet and savoury surprise treats especially for Valentine’s, while local foodies will be pleased to hear March’s box is themed ‘The Chilterns’ and features a selection of local delicacies.
