The owner of a soft play business is pleased to welcome back customers to the centre in Hemel Hempstead, after months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Helen Whittington had to close the doors to DJ's Play Park in Jarman Square when businesses were told to close in March to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

After months of uncertainty, Helen is delighted to welcome back families to the soft play centre, although there are some changes to ensure the safety of customers and staff.

She said: "It’s great to be open again and provide a fantastic facility for children to be active again!

"I’m very blessed to have a strong team who stepped in at short notice to get us Covid secure and ready to open again.

"Customers have been kind, as they recognise their part to play in the new measures of making the activity of play safe.

"The reduced capacity does rather test the business model of Indoor Play and whether it is sustainable (only allow 40% of previous numbers, adults and children)."

DJ's Play is only taking online bookings, to avoid mass gatherings and comply with track and trace and there are a number of sanitiser stations around the centre.

Helen added: "There are several sanitiser stations around the centre, we have PPE and social distancing guidelines are in place.

"There is a limited number of customers allowed in the centre, and we have enhanced cleaning regimes - all at greater cost to the business.

"Thanks to those customers who have come back and continue to support us."

Helen has also set up a crowdfunder to replace 'tricky to clean' ball pools at DJ's Play in Hemel Hempstead with new sensory areas that would enable social distancing.

On the crowdfunder page it says: "DJ’s Play needs to innovate to change ball pits to sensory equipment that can be easily cleaned and stimulating for all children and will enhance our SEN (Special Educational Needs) sessions too."
