Bovingdon man helps first digital radio station for the travel trade take off

A man from Bovingdon who helped create a radio show for the travel trade during lockdown is now helping to take the show global.

Leo Jones, who used to work for EasyJet, was part of the team that created Cabin Crew FM On Air, is now helping to bring the show to more listeners.

Travel.Radio, which is due to launch on October 19, is the first digital radio station for travel trade, following the success of CCFM On Air.

It will feature 24-hour music, chat, interviews and competitions.

Leo, who is now doing the presenting job full-time, said: "At Cabin Crew FM we were contacted by people in the aviation industry and they wanted to make the station more of a global station

"We have really broadened the scope and it is going really well.

"The feedback from CCFM On Air was phenomenal and now we are making it bigger.

"Travel Weekly is an official partner of the station.

"Harriet Flitton, from Leighton Buzzard, will be presenting at weekends on the show.

"Something that started as a lockdown project to help people in the aviation industry has grown to something that is helping people across the world, it's really amazing.

"When we started we wanted to help people in the travel industry during these difficult times, and that is still the main thing for us.

"We will also have senior people from the travel industry providing information for people, which will be helpful.

"I love it, and i'm really enjoying being able to help people on these uncertain times."

Leo's show is the Afternoon Travel Show, Monday to Friday, 2pm till 6pm.

Deborah Henley, who was behind the creation of CCFM On Air, is the chief executive of the new venture.

From October 19, listeners will be able to tune in online via the station’s website at www.travel.radio or listen anywhere in the world on their mobile device or smart speaker.
