Berkhamsted taxi driver offers to take NHS staff to work for free

A black cab driver from Berkhamsted is offering to take NHS, hospice or care home workers to work for free so they do not have to use public transport during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mark Twyman wants to help the workers on the frontline by taking them to and from work in his black cab, he has a separate passenger compartment and the taxi is sterile wiped and sprayed after each journey.

He said: "I'm a London taxi driver and with work going quiet I thought this is something that I could do to help those who still need to use taxis for essential travel.

"I have been offering to take NHS workers, hospice workers and care home workers to work for free instead of them using public transport, to help minimise their contact with the public and help keep them safe during this difficult time.

"I have also been helping the elderly in Berkhamsted who need to go to the doctors or have to go to hospital appointments."
