Berkhamsted business spreads Christmas cheer by supporting 10 charities

A chartered accountancy firm in Berkhamsted decided to be fundraising heroes by donating their Christmas party funds to local charities.

The team at HJP Chartered Accountants were feeling very glum that their annual Christmas party was cancelled this year as after a busy 2020 they were looking forward to celebrating together over the festive season.

When the decision was made to put the Christmas party on ice the team put their heads together to think of how they could bring some joy to local charities instead.

This year will be a particularly difficult time for many charities who have lost fundraising income through events that did not happen, closed shops, and the economic uncertainty resulting in reduced donations.

Each member of the HJP team selected a charity of their choice to be the recipient of a Christmas gift donation in lieu of the Christmas party and the charities selected were chosen as many had touched their lives personally.

The chosen charities are:

- Appledown Rescue and Rehoming Kennels

- Cats Protection League Hemel Hempstead

- Bliss, for babies born premature or sick

- Mind, for better mental health

- Chilterns MS Centre

- The Alzheimers Society

- DENS, Helping Rebuild Lives

- Motor Neurone Disease Association

- Feeding Britain

- Macmillan Cancer Support.
