Youth Theatre present drama about Seventies computer geeks

With Sci-fi plot lines, 70s styling and high energy music Loserville, written by McBusted member James Bourne and his mate Elliot Davis, promises to be an upbeat, funny and entertaining show.

The slogan used for the musical is “I guess it really pays to be a slacker...”, and the story is centred around 17-year-old Dork, who is called a nerd, geek and slacker by others.

Socially marginalised by the entire school and constantly picked on by Eddie, the coolest boy in school, Michael is desperate to find his ticket out of Loserville.

But when stunning new girl Holly arrives, Michael is introduced to a whole new world of cool.

The drama is showing at The Court Theatre in Tring in August and is presented by Aylesbury Vale Youth Theatre .

The Youth Theatre is run entirely by young people aged 18-25 and draws members from a wide area.

In addition to acting, the members build the sets, create costumes and provide the sound and lighting crew.

Members also hold fund raising events to help cover the costs of staging shows.

The company has a tradition of putting on high quality productions and in previous years has performed The Wedding Singer, All Shook Up and The Drowsy Chaperone.

Loserville director Rachael Brown said: “It’s a brilliant show and will be a different challenge for the company, it’s exciting and risky to be putting on a brand new musical.”
