Behind the scenes on Barnum
Described as one of the greatest shows on Earth, Barnum is at Milton Keynes Theatre this week.
The musical is all about the irrepressible imagination of dreams of showman Phineas T Barnum. It will be staged until Saturday May 16.
The show stars TV presenter and actor Brian Conley as the showman, who is joined by West End star Linzi Hateley, who has appeared in Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, Chicago and Lea Miserables.
Without his wife Chairy, Barnum would probably never have become a household name. She was the practical one in that partnership, and it was her influence over him that made his dreams come true.
PT Barnum lit up the world with colour, warmth and all the excitement of his imagination, finally teaming up with J A Bailey to create Barnum and Bailey’s Circus, The Greatest Show on Earth.
An exuberant score written by Cy Coleman includes many well known hits, such as Come Follow The Band, The Colours Of My Life and There Is A Sucker Born Ev’ry Minute.
Tickets for the show cost between £12.50 and £45.
