Songs sung by troops in the trenches during the First World War will be performed on stage at The Boxmoor Playhouse this week.

The cast in Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company's production of Oh What A Lovely War

Hemel Hempstead Theatre Club is bringing Oh What A Lovely War! to the stage to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the production and to commemorate the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.

At its heart are the real songs sung by ordinary British soldiers in the trenches featuring popular tunes such as, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, Pack Up Your Troubles and Keep the Home Fires Burning.

Through a series of comic sketches, interspersed with projections of actual documents and photographs of the period, it chronicles events culminating in the conflict.

The show starts tomorrow night running until this Saturday, with performances starting nightly at 7.45pm and a matinee show on Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £14, £13 concessions. To book click here or call 0333 666 3366.
