In 2009 together with his wife, Norwegian virtuoso cellist Bjorg Lewis, he founded an annual chamber music festival which takes place in June at the church of St Mary Magdalene in Latimer.

Paul and his wife, who recently moved across the border from Buckinghamshire into Hertfordshire, were keen to establish a top quality festival near to their home, and they invite world-renowed musicians to share the stage with them.

Now, to support the festival, they are holding a fund raising concert, Midsummer Music, in Berkhamsted.

Paul and Bjorg are artistic directors of the concert, to be held on Thursday March 5 in Dean’s Hall at Berkhamsted School Castle Campus.

The festival director is Madeleine Mattar and they will be joined by brilliant Ukrainian violinist Andrej Bielow.

The all Beethoven programme will travel from the charm of an early set of cello variations via the lyricism of the last violin and piano sonata to the transcendence of the most profound final piano sonata.

Doors to the concert will open at 7pm and drinks will be available before the concert starts at 7.30pm.

The programme will run without an interval (approximately 70 minutes long) and then the audience is invited to stay for a reception with the musicians.

This is a fund raising concert for the main festival which runs from June 19 - 21. Donations are welcome, £30 is suggested.

Those aged 11-18 are invited to attend free of charge.
