Award-winning theatre company bringing new show Three to Hertford this October

Set inside the heart of every home - the kitchen - this touching play follows the family relationships of three neighbours. Highlighting the importance of fostering intergenerational connections, this heartfelt production leaves audiences hearts touched.

In this brand new show, audiences are welcomed into the lives of three neighbours - Ida, a Grandmother with an adventure-seeker spirit; Jaanvi, the head of an Indian family and Ralph, an ex-Military man, now content in his peaceful solitude. Each neighbour gathers with their family to share their experiences, uncover personal histories and bond over stories.

Three profoundly captures the heartfelt bonds between grandparents and grandchildren and mirrors the experiences and dynamics shared across everyday families in the UK.

Praised for delivering original puppetry and visual theatre in their productions to magnify human actions and propel storylines, Smoking Apples Theatre have also included the edition of mask-work to Three. This addition of mask's remarkably drives the exploration of aging in the characters by showcasing their physical changes.

Co-Director and Script Writer of Three, Molly Freeman shares "Mask is a new venture for us but there has been something so wonderful about seeing how we can bring youth to an aged face and vice versa. It’s a real visual treat. Fundamentally, Three is a celebration of life, in all its forms; old and young, happy and sad, the big moments and the small ones."

Three is a powerful production providing a necessary reminder to the importance of the third generation sharing their unrivelled knowledge, wisdom and experiences that come from a life lived in full.
