Hemel Hempstead is SIXTH most expensive rail commute in UK, research reveals

Veygo Magazine, which analysed the cost of commuting around the UK in both a car and on the train, have revealed the most expensive rail commutes.
Hemel was found to be the SIXTH most expensive, with commuters having to fork out £367.90 a month on average.

Hide AdAnd to make matters worse inflation-busting rail fare rises of about 2.7 per cent are due in January, under the controversial ticket-pricing policy for Britain's rail network.
This is in spite of services being blighted by delays, cancellations and overcrowding.
Arthur Leathley, chairman of London TravelWatch, which represents hundreds and thousands of commuters in and around the capital, said: “This latest rise is a kick in the teeth for all commuters but especially those in the most expensive towns such as Hemel Hempstead.
“There needs to be a total reform of the fares system. The Government has pledged to do this, now the new secretary of state needs to take action.”

Hide AdThere was a spate of cancellations on Hemel's London Northwestern Railway (LNR) services back in October, which followed months of on-and-off disruption ever since a new timetable was introduced.
The most commute to London was from Milton Keynes, with the average passenger paying a huge £515.80 a month.
