Lucy received a birthday card from Her Majesty The Queen

A care home in Berkhamsted organised a special celebration to mark a resident's 100th birthday.

Lucy Lee, received a special card from HM The Queen when she turned 100 on Friday, November 13, and staff at Ashlyns residential home made her lockdown birthday as special as they could.

A spokesperson for Ashlyns said: "Lucy was overwhelmed with all the cards and flowers she received today, and was over the moon with the card from the Queen.

"We wanted to make her birthday as special as we could for her as we were in lockdown, we filled her room with balloons and made a special cake and the most of the staff came along to her room to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her.

"It's very hard to celebrate when you can’t see your family, but they all phoned Lucy, and we tried to make it nice."

Lucy said: "I appreciated everything Ashlyns done under the circumstances."
