The number of suspected online child sex offenders identified in Hertfordshire has more than doubled in just two years, it is claimed.

A recent Freedom Of Information request by the BBC found that the number of suspects in Hertfordshire increased from 136 in 2014 to 286 two years later.

A spokesman for the NSPCC said: “Downloading and distributing child abuse images is an abhorrent crime.

They called for every force in the UK to have a dedicated unit to tackle digital child abuse.
