Glenn Tilbrook and his new wave bandmates enjoyed chart fame in the late 70s and early 80s with hits such as Cool For Cats and Up The Junction.

Now he is returning to Berkofest in September after first playing in the acoustic tent at the first concert in 2012.

Berkofest founder Charlie Hussey said: “Glenn has said that he’s really looking forward to coming back to Berkhamsted because he had such a great time before.

“He is very much wanted and this time he will be headlining the main stage.”

The family-friendly festival was first staged in 2012 and attracted 3,500 people, before taking a break in 2013.

Last year’s event was scaled-down and offered more local talent, but this year organisers are blending established household names with an extra helping of up-and-coming artists from the area.

Comedian and Berkofest regular Robin Ince – who also lives in the market town – is hosting the event, which will be held at Berkhamsted Cricket Club on September 12.

The line-up includes country music duo My Darling Clementine, the bold and brassy Hackney Colliery Band, powerfully percussive Black Cat Magic, singer songwriter Jasmine Rodgers and Shane Lamont.

The Swan Youth Centre will be adding to the sound in their own tent, as will Raw Vibes radio show which features up-and-coming artists from the A41 corridor.

Throughout the day there will be drum workshops, face painting, Sandy Art and the full craft beer experience in Haresfoot Brewery’s Folk and Ale tent.

For foodies the exotic, delicious and very local is catered for with an abundance of well-known suppliers including Dar Papillon and HERE cafe.

The official Berkofest website will be unveiled in the next couple of weeks.

Tickets are yet to be officially released but Mr Hussey says there is a limited special offer on £12 early bird passes.
