Dog killed in park attack is hailed '˜a hero'
Luna, a three-year-old Jackhuahua, was attacked and killed by what is believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier, being walked by a young girl, in the park off Shenley Road in Woodhall Farm.
The tiny pooch was being walked with a Poodle cross and a King Charles cavalier cross when the incident happened at around midday on Saturday, May 14.

The owner’s fiance said: “The dog gunned for the poodle first and Luna stood in front of her, but then it went straight for the jugular and outright killed her.
“That dog had the heart of a lion. She was the smallest animal in the house but she was the loudest.
“She used to play-fight with the cat – they used to box each other!”

He said: “There’s no hatred towards the dog and no one blames the girl, because it wasn’t her fault.
“I don’t want this to give Staffies a worse name. I had one called Roxy for 16 years and she was a total softie, but they are powerful dogs.
“They could pull a grown man over if they wanted to.”
Police are investigating the incident of a case of a dog being dangerously out of control, and officers are collecting witness statements.
