Fitness classes can be a daunting prospect, but if you like the idea of training outdoors with the ultimate in fitness - instructors from the military - there is a chance to try out with a free session.

British Military Fitness (BMF) is the country’s leader in outdoor fitness and know all too well how intimidating starting an exercise regime can be.

That’s why the popular outdoor fitness class provider is launching free beginner-focused sessions aimed at motivating those who are new or returning to exercise.

One hour sessions will take place in Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead at 8.30am on Saturday August 6 and Saturday September 3.

Research has shown that starting an exercise regime alone has a general dropout rate of 43% whereas the rate drops to 6% for those who train in a group environment .

BMF’s sessions are led by serving or former members of the Armed Forces and are a fun, effective way of getting fit with like-minded people. With the encouragement of expert instructors, people will train in pairs and groups, burning up to 700 calories a session.

Harry Sowerby, managing director of BMF, said: “It is all about people coming together and having fun, whilst getting fit and improving their lifestyles at the same time - you don’t need to be super fit to join our ranks! Each session is varied to keep both the body and mind motivated and the workouts are designed to improve your stamina, speed, agility and strength in a fun and interesting way. We understand if you are new or returning to exercise it can be scary and we really want to motivate those who perhaps wouldn’t consider a group exercise class to come down to the park.”
