So long, Isle of Wight – now Chilfest beckons

Flame-haired T’Pau singer Carol Decker and current chart-toppers Little Mix may not seem at first to have much in common.

But both were on the bill at the Isle of Wight festival over the weekend, and both are booked to appear at next month’s inaugural Chilfest event in Tring.

Carol, best known for her chart-topper China in Your Hand, will appear during the 1980s themed night on Saturday while the X Factor winning quartet are the marquee name attached to Friday night’s contemporary cast list.

If you’re planning to be among the crowds at Chilfest, get your skates on - you’ve only got only a week left to buy tickets over the internet.

The online box office will close next Thursday, June 27, after which tickets will only be available to buy from selected retailers in Tring and Berkhamsted.

The music festival, on July 5 and 6, is the first of its kind to be held in Tring

Organiser Steve Butcher, who owns Pitstone company Universal Event Productions, is hoping for a sunny forecast which he says is likely to affect ticket sales.

He said on Monday: “We’ve seen an upsurge in sales this weekend, but I reckon a lot of people are waiting on the weather. I think we’ll see a spike in ticket sales nearer the time, once people have seen the forecast.”
