And on Tuesday (December 2) he brings his show, Stand Up and Rock, which combines comedy with rock music from the Bev Bevan Band, to Aylesbury’s Waterside theatre at 7.30pm.

Bev Bevan was Jasper’s friend at school and he and Trevor Burton, also in the band, were both members of The Move – the first artists to be played on Radio One.

Jasper’s career has its roots in music. He started his own folk club in 1969 and performed folk songs and MC duties there, before finding his comedy taking over thanks to banter with the audience. In 1975, he had a hit with novelty record, ‘Funky Moped’, but soon became known for his anecdotal sketches and stories emanating from his life in Birmingham. Tickets cost £26, box office 0844 871 7607.
