Don’t be scared, Flamstead’s festival is a real feast of family fun

Scarecrow festivals are becoming something of a fundraising fixture for community-minded villages all over the country – but Flamstead’s is one of the long-running events of its kind and it’s all happening this weekend.

The fun family event grows in popularity each year, as the crowds gather to see what creative villagers have been able to come up with.

There are expected to be more than 100 scarecrows, all decorated and dressed to amuse and entertain, dotted around the village for the three-day event.

To join in the fun all you have to do is take advantage of the free car park, get a voting form and make your way round the village, listing your favourite scarecrows.

Return your completed form to the village hall where there will be various attractions including cream teas and refreshments all weekend.

The festival is open from noon to 5pm on Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday.
