Arts Venue in Dacorum encourages people to sign up and support the campaign
Campaigning for a new music and arts venue in the borough
A community group campaigning for a performance and visual arts facility in Dacorum is inviting people to become members.
Arts Venue in Dacorum (AViD) are giving people, over the age of 18, the chance to join for free.
Being a member will give them a chance to have their say and be active in helping the campaign for a new music and arts venue in Dacorum.
Luke Hinton, chairperson for AViD, said: "Members will be given a vote at the AGM about decisions and direction that the organisation is taking, and will be given a chance to vote on key roles too.
"Members will also be offered the chance to become more involved in the activities that AViD will be undertaking to help the cause too."
Last year, AViD carried out a survey to help support a new venue to meet the needs of the local community - they had 493 responses.
From the survey AViD was able to determine that of those who responded 46.2% attended events in Dacorum less than twice a year, and the third most popular response was that 10.6% of those surveyed advised that they do not ever attend events in Dacorum. They also found that 63.6% of those surveyed said that they attended at least one event a month outside of Dacorum.
Using the results AViD has spoken with members of the local council and MP's about future plans.
