Youngsters out in force at Tring parkrun as PB times are toppled

A total of 118 runners enjoyed the sunshine at Tring parkrun this week and there was a younger feel to the event as a result of it being half-term.

In fact, juniors made up 22 per cent of the runners – the highest junior percentage that there has been at Tring.

The best PB improvements came from Noah Roger (1min 41secs); Howard Gray (1:13); and Jim Maple (55s).

In total there were 36 PBs, with Andrzej Bojarski claiming the honour of running the 1,000th Tring parkrun PB.

At the front of the field, Stephen Buckle of St Albans Striders led the run and finished in 18:23. Dom Evans of Tring Running Club just held off Andrew Dodds of Redway Runners to claim second.

Lynda Hembury was the first lady home, followed by Harriette Purchas and Tracey Cotton. Lynda and Harriette achieved PBs and set new age category records.

For the juniors, Dom Evans, Daniel Macey, Sam Leybourne were the first boys home, with Betsy Yarrow, Rebecca Mead, Isobel Bladen being the fastest female juniors.

Congratulations to Luke Martin and Sidney Mead who both completed their 10th junior t-shirt winning runs.
