The Camelot team finished third in the group stages behind local rivals Harpenden and Old Albanians, which meant a final against the side that finished third in the other group, Northampton Old Scouts.

Camelot dominated the first half without ever really being at their best, and two tries from Edward Long put them in the driving seat.

Despite a spirited fight-back from the opponents, including a try to pull it back to 2-1, Camelot held on to pick up their second piece of silverware in successive weeks.

This weekend, the Camelot young guns will be looking to make it a hat-trick when they play in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, a nationwide tournament played near the home of Aviva Premiership side Saracens.

Professional players will also be on hand to provide coaching tips and the opportunity for the aspiring players to meet their heroes.

The Camelot U11 team is on the lookout for new recruits, with training on Friday evenings and training or matches on Sunday mornings, usually at Camelot Rugby Club in Chaulden Lane. Year 6 children interested in joining can contact coach Dave Martin at [email protected]

Meanwhile, the Camelot U10s were at their dominant best again as they retained the Bedford title for a fourth year running.

Hemel A (Knights) won all three games in their pool against Harpenden, Old Scouts and Northampton, lining up for a tough final against rivals Old Albanians.

However, the Kinghts produced a fine display and secured a 4-0 win to ensure a fourth consecutive Cup win for the club.

Hemel B (Wizards) had similar success by drawing 2-2 in the Bowl final against hosts Bedford Blues.

This was an excellent result given that some of the Hemel players had only started with the club at the beginning on the season.

Preceding pool matches saw the promising side take a 4-1 win, earning them a place in the final.
