The challenge is set for workplace teams of four or more to swim the equivalent of every wave of the Great East Swim; an event taking place on Saturday, June 18 near Ipswich.

The Workplace Swim Challenge takes place from March 1 to April 30 and features teams logging 1,218 lengths of a 25m pool, between them, to win £500s of Great East Swim (GES) prizes – including team entrance to the open water event on June 18.

Workplace teams do not have to swim together, simply fit indoor swimming into their everyday lives, logging the activity via the Workplace Challenge website or App.

The Workplace Challenge is organised locally by the Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership and supported by Sport England and the British Heart Foundation.

It has already proved its worth for businesses in Hertfordshire, with 1,612 people signing up to the challenge so far. Of these, 28 per cent were previously inactive and 260 workplaces are involved.

Workplace Challenge coordinator for Hertfordshire Adan Freeman said: “We are delighted to be involved in this regional swim challenge and would love Hertfordshire to come top of the leader board.

“So if you are a regular swimmer, would like to swim more or set yourself a challenge – why not sign up with some colleagues and get swimming?”
