TringRugby bag a welcome win as CS Rugby are edged out

TringRugby recorded a welcome 21-16 victory in a scrappy game against CS Rugby, but felt aggrieved not to have picked up a bonus point.

Tring were adamant they should have had the bonus point as Tom Newton and Sam Clapham went over for tries, only for the referee to disallow them.

Tring were always in control of the game, but CS Rugby never gave up and got themselves a losing bonus point with a penalty right at the death.

Tring were a lot brighter than previous weeks, with man of the match Nick Radley grabbing the first try as the Tring pack pushed over from a five metre line out.

Penalties were exchanged before Tring left a gaping hole in midfield for CS Rugby to stroll in unopposed under the posts, and suddenly they took the lead.

However, Sam Clapham – on for the injured Scott Browne – soon went over for a try in the corner to restore the lead that Tring never lost.

With Newton prompting from fly-half, Tring never lost control and were very unlucky not to collect the five bonus points that their performance had merited.

Tring sit in 13th position in the National League 3 London & SE following the victory, five points clear of bottom side Guernsey and two behind 12th-placed Westcliff.

Next up for Tring is a trip to Gravesend at the weekend as they look to build on their victory and climb up the table.
