Tring got off to a bad start and found themselves 10-0 down early on, before Dan Peplow was forced off with a dead leg after a bone crunching tackle.

Tring soon worked up the pitch and put Scottish under pressure with a number of mauls, resulting in a sin binning for a London Scottish player.

Tring’s Ben Sainsbury capitalised as he scored from a short range drive to reduce the deficit to 10-5.

After giving a rousing half time team talk, coaches Ben Criddle and Grant made some intelligent tactical substitutions which put Tring back into the game.

London Scottish scored first after the restart, but Tring hit back when Ben Hogan took a quick penalty to race over for a try to make the score 17-10.

Soon afterwards, Euan Ferguson and Cameron McIntosh combined to provide a dream run through Scottish defence which the latter just failed to convert. The match returned to an evenly fought affair until an 80m Ben Sainsbury charge provided Ferguson with an opportunity to spread the ball wide to McIntosh who bustled over for 17-15.

A costly mistake at the kick-off by the Scottish fly-half then allowed Alex Nunn to feed Robbie Johnson to cross over under the sticks and put Tring in front for the first time, with Hogan converting the try.

Tring defended their own line for the last 10 minutes, holding off the London Scottish attack and clinching the hard fought 22-17 victory.
