The club’s aim for this team is to develop as many swimmers as possible through racing, working as a team and competing as a team, and they finished in a respectable sixth place in the first two rounds.

For many of Tring’s swimmers this was the first gala team that they’ve been part of and, in Round 1, outstanding swims came from the very talented 10 and under girls who managed to win the medley relay and the freestyle relay, as well as Anna Birch winning the 50m backstroke in 49.59s and Chloe Sharp winning the 50m freestyle in 42.14s.

It was great to see the new 10&U and 12&U boys’ team race for the first time as well – James Monks swam a fine 50m freestyle in a time of 45.77s, and Tim Fryer, Alexander Stephenson and Ethan Jones all got off to a great start in racing.

In Round 2, Anna and the 10&U freestyle relay team won again, including Charlie Mailey this time.

Particular mention also goes to Amaya Stephenson, Daisy Knight and Oliver Denton-Sparke who all swum up in the 12&U age group throughout, and each swam PBs in rounds 1 and 2.

“Thank you to team manager Sarah and all the poolside helpers – all involved have been a credit to the club”.
