First for sport

The open days will be held on Sunday, May 8 and Saturday, May 14, from 10am to 4pm when guests will be able to give bowls a go in a fun, friendly and informal environment.

A club spokesman said: “Tring Bowls Club welcomes allcomers to our open days, whatever your age or gender, whether you’ve never bowled before, perhaps have played a few ends in a public park, or maybe used to bowl and are thinking about taking it up again.

“Why not give bowls a try and combine gentle exercising and socialising at the same time?”

Qualified coaches and experienced members will help guests to choose suitable bowls and guide them in the basics of the sport on the green.

There’s no need to book and nothing to pay; all the club ask is that guests go along to the green in Cow Lane with a pair of flat-soled, heel-less shoes or trainers.

If you have any questions or would like to try bowls, but can’t go along on either day, please ring Geoff on 01442 825462 to arrange a free taster session at a mutually convenient time. Visit for more information.
