Top honour is awarded to coach Phipps

Hemel Hempstead martial arts coach Malcolm Phipps has been awarded a top award in America.

Phipps, who is a 7th Dan and Chief Instructor to Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International, was inducted into the Global Martial Arts Hall of Fame at a banquet held in Indianapolis last month.

The inductees had to prove that they had dedicated themselves to the growth of martial arts internationally.

One person who was inducted along with Sensei Phipps, was USA's Sensei Tokey Hill the 1980 World Champion.

Sensei Hill invited Sensei Phipps to bring a team to Columbus, Ohio in February next year to the prestigious Arnold Schwarzenegger 2008 Sports Festival, to which Sensei Phipps agreed.

This is an annual event, which Arnold Schwarzenegger attends on one of the days.
