Top-10 positions for both Harriers teams in Keysoe

A team of 23 men and 11 ladies from Gade Valley Harriers travelled to Keysoe in Bedfordshire to compete in the second fixture of the Chiltern League Cross Country season.

Braving the torrential rain, hail and high winds, the ladies’ team finished in seventh place in Division One, with the men achieving ninth place.

Newly promoted to the division, the Harriers are already out of the relegation zone after just two matches and are feeling rightly confident for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, in another weekend of her 10-in-10 preparation, Harrier Sam Tucker completed the Druids Challenge, which consists of an 84-mile route run over three consecutive days.

Elsewhere, Vince Ellerby was in action at the Hillingdon Duathlon, where he took first place in the super vet category in a total time of 43:54.

At the weekly parkruns, Ellerby completed the Black Park run in 19:35, good enough for fourth place overall out of 417 runners.

St Albans parkrun had three Harriers competing, with James Thomson coming home first in 21:44. He was followed by Helen Heathcote in 29:21 and Jenny Barnett in 30:05.

Matt Ashby was the lone Harrier at Canterbury parkrun, where he clocked 20:16 for fourth place out of 63 runners, while Nick Crowther finished Tring parkrun in 23:21 for 15th position.

Meanwhile, Michael Birch was competing at the Grand Union Canal Half Marathon where he clocked a very creditable 1:30:01
