The new initiative aims to capitalise on the buzz created by the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and give more people the chance to emulate the skills of their Olympic heroes by trying freestyle skiing or snowboarding, or giving ski racing a go.

Running at a network of England’s indoor and artificial slopes and snowsports clubs nationwide, Go Race Go Freestyle sessions will come in various forms, depending on participants’ aims and abilities.

Tim Fawke, CEO of Snowsport England said: “Sochi 2014 brought snowsports to the attention of more people than ever before, particularly those inspired by the dynamism and excitement of ski racing or by the fantastic performances from GB’s freestyle skiers and snowboarders.

“With Go Race Go Freestyle sessions, we are giving people the opportunity to get a taste for another side of snowsports.

“For people who want to get even more involved, it becomes part of the pathway from grass roots to elite snowsports.”

Sessions are suitable for people new to the sport, or those who can already ski or snowboard, and more information can be found at www.goskigoboard.org.uk
